TE Youth Choirs
Without a doubt, music has a special place in our children’s lives. During moments of celebration, music has the magical ability to give voice to our emotions and to our feelings of shared humanity. There is no better way to elevate our spirits and our connection to Jewish community than singing with friends and bringing joy to others.
Through the experience of choral singing, children learn the beautiful language of music, appreciate its poetry and rhythm, and develop leadership skills.
Under the talented and nurturing direction of our choral director, Eugenia Gerstein, the wide repertoire of music, including modern Israeli, liturgical and even rap, offers an exciting musical journey for each age group and provides an array of performance opportunities at both synagogue events and in the greater Jewish community.
We are proud to offer this fun, spirited activity to our Temple Emanuel youth!
Our Youth Choirs are open to all Temple Emanuel children who love to sing:
Kol Keff (Grades 1-3)
What does “cute” sound like? Kol Keff is it! Children have fun performing a mix of traditional & modern tunes at Hanukkah, Purim, Project Manna Concert and Religious School assemblies. Rehearsals on select Sundays from 12:00-12:30pm, beginning in October.
Guys in Ties (Boys in Grades 4 and Up)
These “Guys” bring down the house with their mix of harmony, enthusiasm and, of course, their ties! The boys learn vocal techniques and sight reading, and sing both a cappella and with instruments at a variety of TE and community events.
Polkadots (Girls in Grades 4 and Up)
Singing with flair and fun, the girls find harmony in the music and in the fun of singing together at TE and community events. Want to learn real singing skills and have a great time? Polkadots is for you!
Rimonim (High School Students)
Our talented teens are showcased as they rehearse and perform a wide repertoire of jazz, folk, country and traditional arrangements of Jewish songs. Their harmony has been a moving and spirited highlight at many TE programs.
