Jewish Values & Community

When you join Temple Emanuel Preschool, you become

part of a larger community.

As the only Conservative synagogue with a preschool in Newton, we are fully committed to a Judaica program that helps children learn about the Jewish part of their world and life. The customs and traditions of Shabbat and the holidays are experienced through the young child’s senses. Family participation is encouraged. An atmosphere of belonging is created through which the children and their families experience the joyfulness of Judaism. The highlight of the week is always our community Shabbat with the clergy on Fridays.

A strong play based secular curriculum is integrated with an enriching Jewish curriculum to introduce Judaism through Jewish rituals, celebrations, song and games to become part of everyday life.

Jewish preschools provide children with an understanding of their identity and community.  When Jewish rituals are learned at a young age, they become traditions that continue throughout their lifetime and provide a sense of comfort and belonging. Students are introduced to Judaism through Jewish rituals, celebrations, song and games to become part of everyday life.

Jewish values and concepts such as Tzedakah (charity),Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and Kavod (respect for one another) teach our children to be well-rounded adults.

Learning and hearing Hebrew through song and prayer can have a significant effect on cognitive development, improved listening skills and proficiency in another language later in life.

Preschool PTA

Temple Emanuel Preschool is fortunate to have a very active PTA. They help us build community, provide ways for parents to get involved, support teachers, welcome new students, host open houses, organize mitzvah projects and plan holiday celebration events.
