Shira is thrilled to join the Temple Emanuel community! Growing up in Brookline, Shira’s family were members of Temple Emanuel where she celebrated her bat mitzvah. As the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, Judaism has profoundly shaped her identity and her unwavering commitment to sustaining Jewish culture and connection. Shira is an active member of Boston’s Jewish community and holds a profound appreciation for the impact Temple Emanuel has made with its members and the greater Boston area.
Prior to joining the Temple Emanuel team in January 2025, Shira worked as Director of Development and Communications at a homeless prevention organization, and in various fundraising roles at independent schools in Greater Boston. Shira earned her bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, a master’s degree in Jewish studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a master’s in social work from Columbia University. Shira loves riding her bike and participates in the Pan Mass Challenge every year with her father and her siblings. She lives in West Roxbury with her husband Aaron, their three children, Jonah, Livya, and Mia, and their dog Maggie.
