Chesed Caring Community

Get Involved word cloud on a white background.Temple Emanuel is a caring community that provides support and assistance to its members in times of need. If you or someone you know in our community is in need of help, support, a friendly visitor, guidance or referrals, we are there for you. If you are able to volunteer your time or expertise in support of those in need, please contact one of our chairs below.

Our Chesed Caring Community encourages our ability to support each other through the cycles of life by fostering relationships among Temple Emanuel members, including visits, calls, notes, rides to synagogue, and other activities that connect our community.

For more information, please contact Joan Mael at 617-558-8101.

Do you know someone who needs a caring visitor?

Our Chesed Group connects people through the power of community …

  • Whether you need help yourself
  • Whether you are caring for a loved one, an aging parent, a child with special needs or a veteran.
  • Whether you want to volunteer to help a friend or others

We can help.

If you or someone you know is ill, has a parent or loved one who is lonely, homebound, or has a chronic illness and would like a telephone call or visit from one of our congregant volunteers, please contact Joan Mael at 617-558-8101.

Shabbat and Holiday Hospitality

Kosher? Live in walking distance to Shul?
It’s a mitzvah to host out of town guests for Shabbat.

Congregation volunteers provide Shabbat hospitality (meals and/or lodging) to out-of-town guests of bar/bat mitzvah families who would like to be within walking distance of the synagogue, or other visitors who drive but would like to have a traditional Friday night meal.

If you can provide temporary accommodations, please contact Lynette Polatin or Judy Taub.

Ride to Shul

Are you looking for a ride to Shul? Are you unable to get to Temple Emanuel services because you lack transportation?

Please contact Lynette Polatin of the Chesed – Caring Community Committee at 617-620-8121 for assistance.
