Tisha B’Av

One of the most significant dates on the Jewish calendar, Tisha B’Av (the 9th of Av) marks the destruction of Jerusalem first by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, then by the Romans in 70 CE. Subsequently, we as a people were not to return to our homeland until the modern area. It is one of only two complete fast days, the other being Yom Kippur. The day is marked by reflection, and the chanting of the scroll of “Aicha” (Lamentations). Join us as we gather for this solemn occasion beginning Tuesday night, August 12th.
