Dear Friends,
As we prepare to enter the New Year, our High Holiday prayers present us with an image of each of us as authors, inscribing our next chapter with our deeds. The mitzvot we do make us who we are. This past year has been particularly painful for Jews who care about Israel. You may be asking, what can I do? Here’s a list of some ways you can make a meaningful impact:
- Expand your Israel education
- Study Hebrew!
- Join us in daily prayer either in person or online where we pray for Israel daily
- Join our Israel Action Committee (contact David Rozenson)
- Engage in political advocacy for Israel consistent with your conscience and convictions
- Invest in Israel Bonds
- Give to CJP Israel Fund
- Volunteer in Israel: Jewish National Fund USA and SAR-EL
- A Year in Poetry: Marking the Anniversary of October 7 with Rachel Korazim
- October 7th Commemoration: An Evening of Remembrance & Hope
- Talk to your children
- Stand up against antisemitism (https://www.facejewishhate.org/, https://www.fcas.org/) and join our Antisemitism Task Force (contact Debbie DeBotton)
- Join our Temple Emanuel March of the Living from Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 – Thursday, May 1st, 2025
In this hard time for Israel and the Jewish people, may each of us find our own way to say
what our father Abraham said to God so many years ago: hineni, here I am.
