4 Sessions: May 1, 8, 22 and 29
We will discuss eight of Agnon’s short stories in English translation as well as his unusual Nobel Prize acceptance speech. The discussions, which will be led by David Link and Michael Bohnen, will try to uncover the deeper meaning of Agnon’s work by exploring his use of symbolism.
All short stories will be in English translation (different from the stories covered in their 2018 course)
Sorry, but registation for this course is closed.
David Link is a retired pediatric nephrologist. His interest in Agnon goes back over 60 years when he read the author’s short stories with his father in the original Hebrew.
Michael Bohnen practiced corporate law for over 3 decades and now works for a charitable foundation. His interest in Agnon was sparked by the author’s abundant use of idioms from the Hebrew Bible and Rabbinic literature.
