Community Mask Making Project

July 10

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until July 24, 2020

The Temple Emanuel Mask Making Committee is partnering with the Jewish Family Services of Metrowest (JFSMW) / and synagogues throughout New England to sew masks to support:

  1. Our synagogue communities
  2. The Syrian refugee community
  3. Other communities in need

JFS started this initiative to proudly support their client, Abdulkader Hayani, and a group of volunteers in sewing fashionable, double-layer masks. JFS and their synagogue partners resettled Abdulkader, his family and 7 other Syrian families just 3 years ago.  Abdulkader Hayani, a tailor by trade, has made over 2.000 masks to keep our community safe!  Read more about this initiative here.

JFS is asking for a donation of $18 for each mask and will donate a second mask for each order received.

Please join our efforts by volunteering to either sew (instructions provided), package, or deliver materials to sewers and/or deliver masks to JFW who will then distribute them.

If interested in sewing, you only need a sewing machine* and pins – fabric and elastic will be provided thanks to a donation to the JFSW.

*Note:  If you do not have a sewing machine, please still share your interest, as there is a possibility of renting machines.

Please email Erin Moseley if interested in joining our efforts.  Include how to best reach you as well as how you want to contribute.
