Family Education

"If you truly wish your children to study Torah, study it yourself in their presence. They will follow your example. Otherwise, they will not themselves study Torah but will simply instruct their children to do so."
–Rabbi Menahem Mendel of Kotzk

Family Education at Temple Emanuel sponsors both community and school based initiatives in order to encourage spiritual and religious growth in our families and help build connections within our community.

The goals of Family Education are to:

  • Involve family members in their children's Jewish education from the earliest stages
  • Empower parents to become Jewish models and teachers for their children by providing skills and knowledge
  • Establish contexts for lifelong learning that will impact the family
  • Strengthen the home as a center of Jewish life

Terri Swartz Russell is our Family Educator.

Family Education is supported by a lay committee chaired by: Sheryl Dropkin 617-244-5641 sadropkin@aol.com and Rob Heinstein 617-795-2955 robert.heinstein@wilmerhale.com.

New committee members are always welcome.
